Cheers to 79 Years!

Cheers to 79 Years!
We are so grateful to our Guests near and far and to our teammates throughout the years! We could not be here 79 years without the support from all. From our beginning in 1946 in the Bronx, NY to now 7 locations and a food truck in WNY we are so appreciative of all who have helped us learn and grow in service to our guests and teammates. Enjoy learning a bit about our history and passion for service!
It all started when two people fell in love! ...

Carl & Greta Anderson, first met each other as kids growing up within the Swedish immigrant community, Buffalo. They later reunited as young adults and formed a bond that led them to be married in 1941 (in the same church they had grown up in!)
Carl Anderson had earned a law degree at the University of Buffalo but never had a chance to practice. World War II was underway and Carl soon found himself in the Navy. Carl had been stationed in New York City, and so, when he was honorably discharged, it was natural for Carl and Greta to settle there.
A friend of Carl’s was manufacturing a new and exciting product... the frozen custard machine! He suggested to Carl and Greta that they open a stand in New York. They decided to take his advice in 1946 and try it for a year or so. They gathered help from grandparents and friends to build and open their first location. The store was right next door to a movie theater on White Plains Boulevard in the Bronx. Folks really enjoyed the product and the hard working couple!
After awhile, however, both Carl & Greta realized they were homesick for their families back in Buffalo. They sold the New York City store and moved back home to Buffalo in 1948.
They built a new store on Kenmore Avenue at the corner of Englewood. Funny thing is, this store was built close to the road just like the NYC store. The young entrepreneurs presumed people in Buffalo would walk like the patrons in NY. However, the people of Buffalo liked to showcase their cars! So this second location was lacking in parking.
Fortunately they were able to purchase a 3rd location not too far away on a wooded area that had plenty of space for parking….so much so that they could put the store right in the middle of the land and have parking almost all the way around. Many of you now realize this is the Anderson’s Sheridan location! Our oldest existing building with much of the same architectural flair as its early days!
Carl and Greta Anderson worked the counters, served the guests and coached the staff for many years at the Sheridan location. They had a true passion for people!
(Did you know that Mr Anderson worked with the local soft serve machine people to assist in re designing machines so as to serve his rich and creamy frozen custard through a machine. In most other places outside of WNY frozen custard is scooped like ice cream! He was the first to swirl frozen custard right onto a cone!.... and again, take note it is frozen custard NOT soft serve!)
In the mid 80’s the couple opted to retire and some of their children then took over to hold the reigns of the family business. Some of you may know the names- Keith Anderson, Nels Anderson, Holly Anderson and Holly’s husband Kirk Wildermuth. The children built more locations and grew the business.
Currently Holly Anderson is the sole owner of our business. She works daily with our Executive team and our Management Teams to ensure we are abiding by our companies values and executing on the foundations as started by her parents! Our company mission is to Give & Create Smiles!
We look forward to seeing you in the stores this summer and hope you can say "cheers" with a frozen custard cone on August 13, 2025! Frozen Custard small sized cones will be just 1.79 at all store locations and check out our Media pages to see how you can win a 79.00 Gift Card!
We are proud to serve you!
